What's your history?
In a nutshell, Benson Baptist Church was founded in January 1887 and has served the Benson community and beyond ever since. Originally gathering for worship on the fourth Sunday of every month, the community quickly grew from five charter members to the church that it is today. While much of our history is, well, history, it brings us great pride to continue carrying on the work of all of the BBCers from 1887 to today. Our current Sanctuary building, completed around 1918, still carries with it the feel of congregations of old, walking through life and growing in faith together!
Will I be lost in the crowd?
We are a small worshipping community of faith–– around 100 on Sundays. This means that you are not going to be lost in a crowd, seen as a number, or be forgotten after your first visit!
Our worship spaces are set so that you can be known without feeling overwhelmed.

What are the people like?
The people that are the faith community at Benson Baptist Church are a warm, inviting, loving, and grace-filled group that know we’re not perfect and have no desire to pretend otherwise. While our community carries many differences in opinion, politics, theology, and more, we are united in our love for Christ and our desire to love those around us. We are composed of people of all age groups (literally less than one year to over 100 years) and we do our best to include everyone in the visioning for what the future looks like.
If you come as a new visitor, you will be welcomed and treated as if you are a part of BBC –– even if it is your very first day.
We love much, we smile a lot, we walk through tough times together, we give space for tough questions, we don’t always agree, BUT we do find ways to continue as the community that we are called to be.
Come, be yourself, and know that you are welcome here!

What do Sunday mornings look like?
We gather for Sunday School small groups at 9:00 A.M. to study Scripture and where it intersects with our lives. At 10:00 A.M., we gather for worship that features both modern and traditional music and elements. For more on what those services look like, click here.
What do I wear?
There is no dress code at BBC! You’ll find people dressed ‘up’ and ‘down.’ Come comfortable!

What about babies?
Our nursery is staffed by volunteers and available during in-person events. We also have a nursing infant’s room available for parents of infants to use when needed for feeding or changing their infants!
Our annual baby dedication service is a chance for the larger church and parents to enter into a covenant of walking together throughout the life of every infant born into our faith community. For more on that service, email will@bensonbaptist.org.
All volunteers who work with infants-teenagers have agreed to our Child and Youth Safety Policy and have passed a background check process.

What about teens?
We know that the teenage years can be difficult as teens are asking tough questions, exploring the fullness of life, and seeking to grow into their own person. Our youth group is a place where they are able to ask questions without judgment, grow at their own pace, and have fun while doing it all!
Our youth group gathers every Sunday night at 6pm in the youth room (except in May, June, July, and August when they have other regular activites).
Throughout the year the youth group participates in missions events, attends youth camps, goes on retreats, and much more! For the most up-to-date information on what’s happening with the youth group, click here.
Ages in the youth group: 6th-12th grade (5th graders move up the summer between 5th and 6th grade year).

Who are you affiliated with?
One of the great distinctives of the Baptist denomination is the autonomy of the local church, meaning that each church is self-governing and not subject to a set of guidelines or beliefs prescribed by a higher ecclesial body. Nonetheless, while affirming our autonomy as a church, we Benson Baptists consider it a blessing to partner alongside various denominational and interdenominational organizations in our efforts to love God and love others in the world. Below is a list of the groups with whom we affiliate and partner.
Most closely, we are a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship affiliated congregation.
